We received a review from a customer who purchased our Turmeric Powder. He left us feedback that we feel must be addressed so there is no confusion whatsoever about the purity and the quality of our product.
The customer informed us that he routinely tests for foreign particles, fillers, additives and preservatives according to a recommended method advocated by, in his terms, “professional expertise”. He added ½ tsp of our Turmeric Powder to ½ cup warm water in a clear glass vessel. He let it sit for 20 minutes. No stirring. No shaking. No moving. He then checked to see if all of the turmeric had fallen to the bottom of the glass, in which case, according to these experts, meant the turmeric was “pure”. He specifically told us, “If you end up with anything floating at the top of the surface, then the turmeric is not pure. Your turmeric has quite a bit floating on top.”
So, of course, we refunded his money and sent the review directly to our supplier in India. Here’s what they said:
We repeated the experiment in our laboratory as per the above procedure. As expected, we also found small particles floating on the surface of the water. However, we could see under our microscope that these particles are tiny bits of organic turmeric-skin floating on the surface.
This is a natural characteristic of turmeric. We confirmed this with our QA (Quality Assurance) department, as well. Otherwise, there are no foreign impurities to be identified with this experiment.
As per our processing criteria, the turmeric is washed, cleaned, dried and steam-cleaned so there is NO CHANCE for any contamination during any level of processing.
Frankly there is no scientific basis whatsoever to this sort of “analytical method” of determining the purity of turmeric. In other words, this testing method for the “purity” of turmeric is “pure” nonsense. Turmeric’s skin can easily float on hot or warm water. This is perfectly normal and can be expected!
At Pure Indian Foods, we are known for our high quality, certified organic, 100% pure products. This is our commitment to you, our customer. We take this commitment very seriously. Rest assured, we stand behind each and every product that we carry and we will NEVER compromise on quality!
hey guys,
my dad has arthritis among with other conditions, ive been meaning to purchase turmeric for him so he can mix with water, however heavy metal is a huge concern of mine as a lot of my previous purchases later were brands that had to recall their products after testing for high heavy metal.
Just wondering what are some of the quality assurance from your brand on the matter?
Thanks!
Turmeric also keeps the skin moist, makes it brighter, and helps with healing injuries.
